Sorry guys,
It has been a LONG while since I have given you an update. So the last time we spoke was right before Christmas. Xmas was awesome in Puerto Rico. Christmas Eve, we went to a neighbors house. Everyone was super friendly and the food was really delicious. Then on legit christmas, we went to a friends house - which was also super awesome and delish. I cannot describe to you the love in these people’s intentions. Latin families are immediately hospitable to strangers. I kid you not, when i say that in seconds, there was a hot meal in my face. Personalized for my taste!!! Super good people. The guy who’s house it was used to be neighbors with my Grandparents waaaay back when. So there was some nostalgia going on between the adults. It was fun…and there was whiskey.
Between X-mas and New Years, i worked my ass offffffffffff. Moving tons of boxes and and serving customers in my broken ass spanish. Not only am i physically tired at the end of the day, but also mentally because i am trying so hard to speak spanish. Come New Years. We go to my aunts cousins house, and again, i don’t know anybody. I tried hard to converse but it was very difficult, but i made good friends with a bottle of dewars at the bar. End Night. I was in bed by 130am.
I made a friend, Frances, who was having her birthday party at a paintball arena (coolest place to do so) and it was so much fun. For those of you who don’t know, I used to be on a team and we would play 24 hr scenario games in ocala. I missed it so much and playing has brought back so many good memories.
The next big holiday in PR is 3 Kings. Mayors from every town like to come out in trucks, blast music, and throw inflatable balls to everyone. And every mayor does this…. It is so extreme, they parade town the streets in a caravan of Salsa trucks and inflatable balls to throw at you. The people love this shit.
Following 3 Kings was San Sebastian. This was a festival in the streets of Old San Juan, and THOUSANDS of people attend this event. It takes place from thurs-sunday. The coolest part about this event, when I went, i saw all the vendors who shop at our store selling our products. EVERYONE had our products, it really was amazing to meet these people and get to see where and how they sell our their merchandise. That night was a lot of fun. My cousin Alan didn’t end up going because he went the night before. I went with my new friend Frances, and came home with another new friend Francisco, both are younger then me and a lot cooler then I was at that age. Francisco and I had a Heart and Soul duo during Xmas, and he killed it with the solo. He rocked out hard.
Afterwards was very relaxing at the store. Things slowed down as we started to get ready for Valentines Day. Everybody from the islands come to buy from our store, it is very cool.
The very last weekend, I got to see my friend Ricky. I was born two weeks apart from Ricky and spent the first three years of my life with him. We are still very close friends to this day. He took me out a few times. First was to Piñones, which is a beach town lined with kiosks that sell the most delicious fried foods and dollar beers. My personal favorite is the Empanada de Pizza! delish! We found a car in distress (you are allowed to drive on the beaches there and this car got stuck) Ricky and I helped push this car out of the sand, quickly made friends with the two guys in the car, and we all hung out at the beach together. Small world, we all knew eachothers friends.
The rest of the trip was great. My uncle gave me some time off to just relax and enjoy Puerto Rico. They took me out for a goodbye dinner and I departed for florida.
I just hung out in FL. The first weekend there, i went to gainesville to direct another video for the rapper DP (premiering in march). that was a lot of fun! it was a house party and we just partied and shot a video.
The next and last weekend in Fl was my cousin Williams engagement party. I surprised him friday as we went out in miami and he asked me to be his best man!!!!! I am so honored. William, if you are reading this, I fucking love you.
I left for Peru on Wednesday at 2am. I transfered in Bogota, which was quite an experience. Everyone kept staring, and since it was Ash Wed, i stood out even more without ash on my forhead!!!
After landing in Peru, Customs was a breeze. Driving through San Mañuel was quite an experience. We had to drive through this town to get to Miraflores which is where i am now. San Mañuel was like a post war city, where as miraflores is georgeous and prosperous. I went out and ordered way too expensive drinks. They are Pisco Sours which contain raw egg!!!!! Seriously delicious, though. Well, I am off to Pisco tomorrow after a few Museums. There I am going to visit the Poor Man´s Gallapagos, La Islas Bellastas. Should be quite a trip. The whole day on a boat as we are not allowed to get off onto the island. Vomitron!!!
Goodnight Everyone!!!
