Text 15 Dec San Fran = Awesome with a lightning bolt

Buenos Dias!

I have been in Puerto Rico for a week already and time is just flying by. Before I begin my Puerto Rican Rant, I want to tell you about San Fran in addition to the previously posted photos.

First off, San Francisco is a fucking awesome city. I went with Haldon Greenburg and Aaron Zimroth. The purpose of this trip was to find an apartment for AZ because he is moving here to start a new life with his beautiful wife (Megan Horner Zimroth, yes I know it sounds sexy!) and his hotdog, Ernie. Megan couldn’t go because she had work so Aaron invited Haldon and myself to join him on this important journey.

We arrived late Wed night. We checked into our hotel (The Good Hotel - It was descent) Aaron had scheduled a whole day of apartments and every single one we saw SUCKED. We got to use public trans all throughout the city and we walked a hell of a lot. We even went through Golden Gate Park to take a short cut and bathroom break. It was not until the very last apt of the day that AZ fell in love. Mission Accomplished on day 1 meaning the rest of the trip is party time, which it was.

Friday we set out to see the Painted Ladies aka Danny Tanner’s House. Aaron had to run back to send some emails at the hotel so Haldon and I went to Buena Vista Park and climbed to the top of that mother fucker. It was very steep and had a very beautiful view of the city from the top. After that we went to see the famous Greatful Dead house. We originally thought it was the corner apt building, and after wasting a few frames of film on it, we realized it was a couple of doors down. We then met up with Aaron and ate at Ikes Place which was by far the best tasting sandwich i have ever had in my life. We then hung out back at the hotel for a little before going out with Haldons family friend. She took us to The Stinky Rose - A garlic based restaurant and it was oh-so-good. San Franciscionites (Franciscon’s? Franciskie’s?) know how to party, she bought us plenty of drinks and after we parted, we wanted to drink some more for cheap so we went to a pier with a small bottle of whiskey and got drunker. then went to a bar where i met up with Max Klausner, a friend from NYU who moved to SF. Then the best thing happened, Wesley King showed up. Wesley is a friend from home that is in the army, flying apache helicopters, and is very good at it. I asked him to surprise AZ on this trip since Wesley will be going to Afghanistan shortly and wouldnt have gotten another chance to see him before he left. AZ was surprised, i was happy.

The next day we rented a car and went to Sonoma Valley for some delish wine tasting. Before even having the first glass, AZ vomited all over the side of our awesome PT Cruiser (photo to come eventually and I hope its a good one since i havnt gotten it developed yet.) To sum up this day, we got drunk with the exception of Haldon because he was driving (thank you btw) and saw some nice vineyards. When we got back we found a bar, drank some more and then I passed out at around 9pm and woke up the next morning thinking I went out the night before but didnt at all. I was exhausted to say the least.

Sunday we went to Alcatraz which was so fucking cool and scary. I pray I never have to go to prison so I will try my hardest to be law abiding. We then sent wesley off and went to the MOMA to check out some art. I had just missed the Richard Avedon exhibit by 2 days and was so pissed but saw something else that may have been the coolest thing i have ever seen. An all black room with 26 flat screen tv’s positioned vertically side by side and on each one is a medium shot of a random person with earbuds. They are all listening to John Lennon’s “Imagine” album and singing it out loud. We cannot hear the music but we can hear their words. It was the very cool. The people get so into it. I laughed out loud several times because of their expressions and some people didn’t know all the words and would make them up.

Monday we left for home. I am definitely going back to San Fran. Puerto Rico the next day.
